Morning walk

Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. I am and early riser.Last Friday, I woke up early in the morning with the first crow of the cock. I made up my mind to go out for a walk. I went to a friend's house and knocked at his door. I invited him to accompany me. He agreed and we started at 5.A.M. The streets looked deserted. People were still sleeping in their beds. A few old people met us on the way. They were going to masjids. We also said the Fajar prayer. After this we went for a morning walk. We were soon out of the city. We saw some bullock carts coming to the city loaded with vegetables. Morning breeze was blowing. Birds were chirping. The scene was charming. We were cheerful. After few people taking exercise there. Some were taking bath while others were just sitting at the bank.

The green grass with dew drops on it looked very beautiful. The farmers were plaguing their fields. The sun was rising in the east. It was very beautiful to look at this sight. We took a bath in the canal. After this we returned home. We were happy and fit all the day long.

Short Essay on Perseverance

College Essay Topics ; Examples of perseverance in life

Perseverance

Perseverance is a long word. It means keeping on until we succeed, sticking to a piece of work till we have done it, in spite of difficulties, failures and defeats. It is the opposite of getting tried before we finish, being discouraged by difficulties, and giving up in despair.
Perseverance is necessary for success in any thing. The Proverb, ''Well begun is half done'', is only half the truth it is good to begin well but if we do not go on well until we finish. We shall never do anything. It is easy to begin a piece or work; but it is not easy to stick at it until it is done. The Bible says, ''He that endures to the end, shall be saved.''
A boy begins to work for an examination at school. His subjects are new, and interesting. At first he finds them easy and works well. But after a bit, the novelty wears off. The subjects get more difficult. He loses interest or he gets discouraged. At last he gives up regular work and wastes his time. When he goes up for examinations of course he fails.
A man opens a shop. He is is full of hope that his business will succeed, and he works hard. At first things go well and he is happy. But he gets lazy, and does not take the same interest in his shop, or he thinks it is now quite safe, and he need not work so hard. He gets slack, his stock runs out, and he does not replace it. He gets not so careful to pleas customers. Gradually his shop goes down until at last a smarter man starts a rival shop, and spoils his business.
If we want to succeed in anything, we must persevere. This is lesson of the story of Robert Bruce and the spider. It is also the lesson of the old table of the race between the slow tortoise and the swift hare. The tortoise by steadily plodding on ultimately won that race.

In short perseverance is very important in mean's life. It takes us to success. It keeps the man busy as well as interested in his business. Without this characteristic, no one can achieve any thing big in his life. It is the great quality which assures success in the end.

Essay about music importance

College Essay Topics ; Music definition

Essay about music importance

The world music may be used to two sense. It may mean sounds so combined as to make a pleasant impression on the mind, as when we say. The music played by the orchestra at the concert was very line, or it may means that art of composing or of producing such pleasing sounds, as when we say. A person who has the genius to compose beautiful music, or who is an expert player on a musical instruments is called a musician.
All sound is not music. Many sounds, like loud shouting, the roar of traffic in the streets, the barking of dogs are simply noises. Mere noise, and discords (that is, the sounding of notes together which do not agree), produce no pleasing effects on the mind, but on the contrary are often irritating and disturbing. It is only when the sound are so combined that they pleas the ear, and have a soothing, inspiring or pleasantly exciting effect on the hearers, that they become music. Why certain combinations of sound pleas us, while others irritate and disgust us, we cannot tell any more than we can explain why we call some things beautiful, and others ugly.
Music, then, we may say consists of beautiful sounds. But as people's ideas of what is beautiful differ very much, so there are many kinds of music, some of which pleas some people and do not pleas others,-- from the magnificent com-positions of musicians of genius. Only people of educated musical taste can appreciate the former and they find no pleasure in the latter while the common people are bored with what is called classical music, and find pleasure only in what musicians would call vulgar tunes. But this is not peculiar to music.
It is the same with all arts. For example, untrained eyes and minds cannot appreciate the great pictures of artists of genius, but prefer highly colored daubs ; and the crowed prefers trashy and sensational novels to classical literature.

Good music often has a wonderful effect upon the feelings of even ignorant people. One poet has said. ''Music hath charms to soothe the savage Brest''; and the poet Dryden asks, ''What passion cannot music raise and quell?'' The regimental bands put courage and enthusiasm for battle into the hearts of marching troops; the solemn and stately music of the organ fills the worshipper in church and cathedral with awe and reverence and the sense of the Divine presence. Soft and sweet music soothes the worried, the worried, and the sad mothers send fretful children to sleep with gentle lullabies; and old song will bring tears to the eyes of the lonely exile; and grand music will fill strong men with great hopes and ambitions. ''What passion cannot music raise and quell?''

A dialogue between two friends about convict the story

Nadia: That's the best one I've heard for a long time.
Khalid: D'' you know that story about the convict?
Nadia: Not that one!
Khalid: No, no-it isn't that one, dear! Do you know it?
Nadia: I don't think so.
Khalid: Well, there was this convict who'd never been to prison before.
Nadia: Oh, that one.
Khalid: Quiet Nadia. And at his first meal, when they were all eating together, one of the other convicts suddenly got up shouted' twenty-four.'
Nadia: Whereupon all the other convicts roared with laughter.
Khalid: Please darling. I'm telling the story. So the new convict asked his neighbor what was so funny. 'oh,' said the neighbor. 'You see we've all been here so long that we know all each other's jokes. So instead of telling them we give them all numbers.
Nadia: Oh,no!
Khalid: So at the next meal the new convict decided to tell a joke himself, he felt terribly nervous, but finally, he gathered up his courage, stood up and in a very feeble voice 'twenty-eight,'
Nadia: But there was no reaction at all.
Khalid: Nadia! He sat down in complete silence, red in the face.
Nadia: I bet, a very embarrassing state of fairs.
Khalid: And after a bit, he asked his neighbor what was wrong with joke twenty-eight. 'Nothing,' said his neighbor. 'It's a very good joke. But you know, it depends on the way you tell the story.'
Nadia: Oh dear,That isn't the end yet!
Khalid: So at the next meal the new convict was determined to make them laugh. He stood up and in a firm voice shouted out, 'two hundred and forty-four'. Immediately, everyone was convulsed with laughter. They rolled in the aisles. When the laughter died down, the new convict turned to his neighbor, 'That was all right wasn't it? he said. 'Oh yes, couldn't have been better. And what's more, we'd never heard that one before!'
Nadia: Never heard that one before,
Khalid: I must remember that one,

Nadia: It's a real shaggy dog,

Husband: What a strain!
Wife: Oh, it's good to sit down after all that standing.
Husband: I could just sit here forever and ever, and never get up.
Wife: I don't think I've ever felt so totally drained in my life. All that embarrassing talk, and the drink and the cigarette smoke___
Husband: And the heat. I didn't sleep very well last night either!
Wife: We should've gone to bed earlier.
Husband: But it's funny we should feel so exhausted. After all, we've only been to a party.
Wife: But what a party. I've never felt so foolish in my life.
Husband: We must be getting old.
Wife: I feel if I moved, my bones would break. And the stoles of  my  feet!
Husband: I haven't felt so washed out for ages.
Wife: Perhaps there's something wrong with us. There may've been something in the drink.
Husband: I hope not. The party was bad enough without that.
Wife: Perhaps  everyone at Maria's is now stretched out on the floor.
Husband: It won't do, we must pull ourselves together. Come on! One, two, three up! You see at least I can stand on my feet- just. Come on Nadia! Activity will make you feel better.
Wife: Oh, sit down. Don't be so hearty. You don't know how to relax.
Husband: I'll go and make some sandwiches and coffee. We're probably just hungry, without knowing it.
Wife: Go and do what you like as long as you leave me in peace.
Husband: All right. I must make an effort.
Wife: Solitude at last!
Husband: Good God!
Wife: What is it?
Husband: D'you know? It's incredible.
Wife: What?
Husband: There's man with a flowered shirt and long hair asleep on the floor in here. He's got a guitar.
Wife: Go on with you. You must be dreaming.
Husband: No-really.

Husband: Nadia, you know I don't know anything about fashion.
Wife: But which dress d' you like best?
Husband: Well, they're both all right.
Wife: Only all right?
Husband: Oh, no. I'm- I'm sure you'll look very nice in both of them.
Wife: Khalid, that's no help to me at all. I can't wear both of them! I want a decision.
Husband: But after all it is your decision, not mine.
Wife: Oh dear. The blue cotton is very smart but I'm not sure it goes with the hat.
Husband: You're not wearing hat are you?
Wife: I was going to.
Husband: But surely no one wears a hat these days.
Wife: No, I- I suppose they don't. But surely in smart society.
Husband: I honestly don't know. D'' you think I should wear a suit?
Wife: I would have thought so.
Husband: But surely with this summer weather, a sports coat would be all right?
Wife: But the sports coat is such a loud check. I don't think it would do at Maria's.
Husband: No- perhaps not.
Wife: Oh, I feel in such a muddle.
Husband: So do I. Perhaps we should just wear what we want to. A lot of people do these days, or perhaps the answer is not to go at all.
Wife: You mean rather than make fools of our-selves. I do feel terribly tried.
Husband: But then again you did want to go.
Wife: Yes, I would regret missing it. Oh, I don't know. I wish you were a decisive husband, instead of floundering about.
Husband: Me floundering about... you're the one who's worrying. 'Shall I wear this?' 'Shall I wear that? It's you who's uncertain, not me.
Wife: That's why I need someone definite.
Husband: All right. I'll tell you what we'll do.
Wife: What?

Wife: Oh, don't be silly. It's a great honor. She's very well known. You know she opened the conservative fete last Sunday, down in the village.
Husband: So what?
Wife: How d' you mean' so what'? I've heard that her family came over with the conqueror.
Husband: They must be pretty old by now.
Wife: Well if you feel like that about it you need 'nit go. I certainly shall. One of the pleasures of living in England is meeting interesting people.
Husband: Just because she's got a handle to her double barreled name it doesn't mean she's interesting.
Wife: Well, I like moving in the best circles. I think breeding counts.
Husband: Well, certainly without it, none of us would be here.
Wife: Don't be so coarse. I only hope that when we do go over to Maria, you won't let me down.
Husband: You mean you're afraid I'll go in my gardening cloths and hiccup the whole time.
Wife: I'll have to get a new dress.
Husband: And new shoes? And white gloves! I Can see that moving in society is going to cost us a fortune.
Wife: Well, why not? Just think we'll meet a lot of  their friends and go to smart parties and we can do some entertaining here as well-invite them back.
Husband: Oh!. Lovely, with me in the evening dress the whole time or in tails likes a waiter.
Wife: Really Khalid, you're such a bore. I know you were born in a humble home but things are different now.
Husband: As if your family were such great shakes.
Wife: Well they were, shall we say, a little more refined than yours shall. I've always wanted to meet the British aristocracy.
Husband: Why?
Wife: Well because they're the only aristocracy that's still worth anything.

Mobeen: Yes, Ahmed you have heard correctly.
Ahmed: So far as I know you secured good marks in science subjects in your eight class examination. Why have you decided to take subject of arts instead of science subjects?
Mobeen: In fact when I see so many unemployed doctors and engineers I feel science is useless.
Ahmad: You are mistaken, Mobeen. Scientific education is very necessary for everyone.
Mobeen: What do you mean. How can scientific education be necessary for everyone.
Ahmed: Scientific education helps us to work for the development of not only our country but also for the whole human race.
Ahmed: A country where there are limited sources science can help to find more sources.

Ahmed: Scientific education helps us to think objectively. I am sure that with the help of science we can find alternative sources.
Mobeen: What do mean by thinking objectively.
Ahmed: Objectively thought  means to think and reach at some result with the help of facts and figures without any personal likes or dislikes.
Mobeen: How can we think without involvement of our personal opinion?

Ahmed: It is very strange, the examination are falling in next month and instead of studying you are going to play tennis.
Javaid: I have never missed playing tennis in the evening. I play tennis in the evening even during the days of examination.
Ahmed: But sport is not important than education.
Javaid: When did I say sports are important than education?
Ahmed: The way you play tennis even during the days of examinations shows that you do not consider education important than sports.
Javaid: It is only your misconception, I never thought that sports are more important than education.
Ahmed: I think sports are of no use in passing an examination.
Javaid: No, my friend you are wrong. Sports are just as useful as studies can be. One should not turn into a bookworm.
Ahmed: I don't think that studies make a person a bookworm.
Javaid: Sports make our bodies strong and it is famous proverb that strong body keeps a strong brain.
Ahmed: I haven't seen any sports man who is a scholar too.
Javaid: You are talking about professional sportsman. There is a great difference between an amateur sports man  and a professional sportsman.
Ahmed: I don't see any difference. All such people prefer sports to all other  things.
Javaid: If a boy has decided to become professional sports man. It is natural for him to give much time to sports. But all boys don't decide from the very  beginning to become a professional sports man. We play games to remain physically fit.
Ahmed: In our young age we are physically fit then why bother about games. Moreover, what good is any game to us in service or business.
Javaid: Besides giving us a good health every game teaches us discipline and obedience. These qualities make us prominent in every walk of life.
Ahmed: But Javaid, after games we get tried and cannot pay much attention to our studies.
Javaid: It is wrong to say games produce fatigue. Games exercise our limbs and refresh us. We can study more vigorously if we play games.
Ahmad: I think sports are only waste of time.
Javaid: I don't want to hurt you, but honestly tell me were my overall marks in the intermediate examination not better than yours?

Ahmad: I think you are quite right. I often marvel that I remain busy in study and still your marks are always better than my marks in every test. I think I too should start some kind of sports.

Essay on Importance of Debates

College Essay Topics   Debate essay example  Debate essay format  Debate analysis  Importance of debate for students

Importance of debates

Debates form an important part of formal education. Debates are held and arranged from time to time in schools and colleges. A debate is a discussion or argument on an important subject on which people may have different opinions. In the Parliament and legislatures issues are debated in detail before a decision is taken on them. In public subjects of social, national and political importance are discussed and debated and then opinion is formed about them. A debate or meaningful discussion is a democratic way to reach wise decisions. Debated help in finding widely acceptable and sane solutions to the problems.
Man is a rational being and so he wants to analyze, debate, discuss and argue about important issues, problems, matters, ideas and plans. The debates become all the more important in democratic and free societies. No decision can be imposed upon the public before they are convinced about it. And the only way to convince the public is through debates and discussions in open through mass media and on platforms and stages. Thus, debates, discussions or public speaking become of crucial importance for success. It is the only way to carry a message across. A good debater can easily win over public support and become popular. Efficiency in debates and public speaking can be developed and cultivated if there is strong will and motivation. It is both an art and technique. We have several occasion to develop this art and technique. Besides formal debates, and question-answer session in the schools and colleges, we have opportunities to address a group of friends, preside over an informal meeting, hold group discussions, introduce a speaker, speak in social gatherings, canvass in school and college elections and organize meeting. Our conversations with friends, parents and others are also occasions to acquire and improve our debating skills and abilities. If we are conscious and aware about it there are scores of opportunities to develop these skills. What is needed are strong will, perseverance and practice.
All good and famous leaders and speakers have been excellent debaters. It is they who lead the people and the world. They shape the destiny of peoples and mankind. They set in motion, the wheels of events of great importance. For example, Quaid-I-Azam, Maulana Muhammad Ali Johar, Fatima Jinnah just to name a few, have been very expert debaters and public speakers. They possessed the power to cast a spell on their audiences. Successful public speaking has always been an infallible means of achieving success, fame, popularity, recognition and acceptability.
To be a successful debater it is essential that there is a sound and through preparation. It needs a proper planning and preparation. A good debater knows his subject well. He studies all the material available on the subject before speaking in the debate. He studies books, magazines, newspapers and consults reference books on the topic. He puts the ideas and arguments in writing. Reads them again and again, discusses them with friends and teachers and then makes a final draft.
A sound preparation generates desired confidence. Self-confidence is of great importance in public speaking and debates. It is the sure key to success. Only a self-confident speaker can best sell his arguments and ideas. Only a debater with self-confidence can convince his audience. There are no chances of success for a debater lacking in confidence. To attain confidence prepare well, attend lectures, debates, talks, etc. Listen the good and well-known speakers as often as you can. Take notes and commit to memory the important points. Debaters often become nervous, confused and tense for want of sound preparation and confidence. Never be cowed down by failures in the beginning. Take them as a challenge and carry on your efforts to win success in debates and discussions. There is hardly any famous speaker who did not fail in the beginning. All good things are different before they are attempted and achieved. Therefore, never lose heart and try, and try again.
Practice well and have rehearsals before actual debate. Stand before a mirror or a mock audience, or a sample audience and read aloud your written material a couple of times. Better if you practice with the points noted down on a piece of paper. Practice makes a man perfect. Practice until you are satisfied. You can also use the tape-recorder etc. for this purpose.
What we say in a debate is important but how we say is also equally important. Your arguments should be sound, sincere and convincing. You should speak eloquently with enthusiasm and be natural and spontaneous in your delivery. Don't be stiff or self-conscious on the stage. Be relaxed, assured and polite but firm. Let there be nothing half-hearted or half-baked. Never feel inferior or hopeless. Always be positive and think of the best success. Try to develop good and eloquent voice. Avoid nasalization and too many movement of your hand. Stand erect, firm but relaxed. Neither speak too loudly nor so low that you are not distinctly audible.

Students who are successful in debates and discussion also succeed in other fields of life. They have the skills and abilities to become good leaders, politicians and parliamentarians. They can become very successful salesmen, managers, advocates etc. Success is assured to a good debater in these fields of life because he has the power to persuade, convince and carry the people with him. He can reason out discuss and carry his message across the people successfully.

Essay on My Pet Aversions

College Essay Topics   Define pet aversion

My pet aversions

Likes and dislikes are natural. They are part of our life. Everybody has his own likes and dislikes. Man can be called a bundle of these. The range of these is very vast. They may differ from man to man. People of similar likings and aversions easily make friends with one another. They make a good company and lasting friendship. The oft quoted saying, ''Birds of a feather flock together, very well underlines this fact. People like to keep to their own kind of persons. They flock together based on their common nature, likes, dislikes and similar cultural and educational background. I have my own likes and dislikes. But they are rather sharp and well defined. I am very well aware of them. I know my pet aversions so well as I do my name and palm of my hand. I have no hesitation in admitting that they are many but a few of them are really well pronounced. My friends, close relations and parents know them fairly well.
Smoking is one of my pet aversions. I dislike it from the very depth of my heart. I can hardly tolerate a person smoking near me. The smokers with, cigarettes and cigars in their mouth here and there fill me with a deep sense of hatred and repulsion. They pollute the atmosphere and endanger the health of others besides their own. Recent researches have revealed that passive smoking is no less harmful. Smoking in public places, cinema halls, trains, aero planes, restaurants etc. should be strictly prohibited and the offenders be punished. None should be allowed to smoke in these places. Smokers emit foul smell from their mouths and hands and spoil the environment. This is one of the many evils I dislike the most. In Pakistan wherever you go you find the smokers galore. They may be found in trains, buses, on platforms, bus-stands, cinema halls, markets, streets, public toilets, parks and roads. They are shameless and obstinate people and do note stop smoking even when others object to it. There is an urgent need of wide public awareness against the evil of smoking.
Flattery is another of my pet aversions. I dislike people who practice it. Flatterers are cheats and hypocrites. They have no principles, conscience, values and ethics. They are abjectly selfish, humorless and spineless people and can stoop too low to practice flattery. A flatterer is the worst enemy and yet people like flattery and flatterers. I pity such people and feel shocked at the illusion they are living in. They fail to distinguish between genuine appreciation and false admiration for selfish purposes. Not unlike smokers the world is full of flatterers. They are ubiquitous. There seems an open competition in the use of flattery. People indulge in flattery and ulterior and selfish motives. They flatter other people to gain some favor, reward or undue material gain. Flattery has become a kind of cottage industry with rich dividends and no investment at all. it really pains me to see the vain and hollow persons getting immense pleasure and satisfaction from flattery. In my opinion flattery is like a bait which is used to ensnare people by the mean, unscrupulous and ignoble persons. Flattery is a very clever means of deception of which everyone should be fully aware. I condemn both the flatterers and the people who patronize and encourage it.
I have a strong dislike for promise breakers as well. In my opinion  promise-breaker and a flatterer stand on the same level. They are worst kind of people and deserve all our contempt and censure. ''Promise-breaker is a shoemaker'', is a well-known phrase. I heard it for the first time when I was just three years old. And since then, I ever remember it and try my best never to break  promise made. A promise-breaker is far worse than a shoemaker. People make promises but seldom keep them. They find any retest good enough not to keep a promise. People borrow money, books and other articles but fail to return on the promised day and time. Such people are a shame and disgrace to the society. They cause untold suffering and trouble to others. They practice it consciously and deliberately and tell lies. And they feel proud of it. They feel they have made others fool but they are soon exposed and then never believed and trusted by others. I dislike such people. I avoid promise-breakers at all costs. It is a very bad and repulsive habit. Our political leaders are the worst offenders in this respect. They make tall promises at the time of elections but never fulfill them. And so they deserve most severe criticism and denunciation. They promise mountains and do not perform even molehills.

Backbiting is another evil I hate and dislike most. A backbiter is no less dangerous and harmful than a flatterer or promise breaker. Backbiters are worst kind of people as they speak ill at the back of others. They are cowards and dare not criticize the people before them. They are really jackals and wolves in the human form and deserve our utmost contempt and censure. They cause immeasurable harm and damage to the society. They enjoy character assassination and poisoning the ears of the people against others. We should be well aware of tell tales and their cunning. They can create enmity and hostility even between very intimate friends by their cunning craft of backbiting and tale bearing. Tale-bearers, back-biters and rumor-mongers are a definite nuisance to the society.

Leisure in modern age

Leisure is an important part of life. Leisure is not idleness nor non-activity but it implies an activity which is meaningful, fruitful and enjoyable. it is for its own sake and not to earn money for man does not live by bread alone. Leisure time is a time of personal fulfillment, and pleasure. It is freedom from monotony, boredom and drudgery of life, It is a time when one pursues what one likes most. It is as important as the work itself which forms our means of livelihood. A man can be judged by his leisure and how he spends it.
The modern age of automation, better standard of living and longevity has further broadened and liberalized the concept of leisure. The wonderful scientific and technological inventions, discoveries and developments have reduced the hours of working and consequently, man has now more time to enjoy leisure and hobbies. But to make a meaningful use of leisure time is nothing short of an art. Very few people know how to best use the leisure time. For many leisure may mean something else but pleasure, enjoyment, relaxation and fulfillment. For them it is a problem to spend leisure time. One needs to develop a proper perspective to make the most meaningful and satisfying use of the spare moments.
Different people spend in different ways their leisure. Some people have no definite idea or plan in this respect. Some others may treat this period as a time of rest and sleep. To many others it is a time of some creative and aesthetic pursuit and inner fulfillment and growth. They play music, grow plants, write poems, practice meditation or render social service. To many it is time for simple entertainment and they go to theatres, see movies or exchange visit with friends and relatives.
But in this age of electronics most of the people spend their leisure before their television sets. The craze and popularity of television is rapidly increasing further and further. A great part pf their free time is being spent in viewing programmer on the idiot box. there are interesting serials, spicy films, scintillating music, dances, plays, chat shows, interviews, various types of information, latest news, weather forecasts, analysis of events and happenings and many more things all the 24 hours of the day. There are scores of channels to choose from. it is the cheapest, the most convenient and the easiest source of entertainment. One has to do nothing. There is neither mental exercise nor physical activity. You have to just sit comfortably and watch things happen on the small screen. In between the various programmes you can enjoy tea, snacks or other eatables.
People spend many hours each day before the television. Even children are great TV enthusiasts. They have cartoon films and other programmes to keep them glued to their TV sets. They prefer TV to any other thing. It is now much more than just one of the media. The cable boom has further encouraged the television viewing. Then there are video cassette recorders and players. It has become the most important means of home entertainment. And there is big money in the business.
Such a craze and popularity of TV has created many social, psychological physical, family and mental problems. It has marginalized reading social activates and outdoor hobbies to a great extent. It is particularly harmful for children. They spend 3-4 hours or more daily in viewing television programmes. Consequently, they grow mature before their age, acquire lots of knowledge but never grow in wisdom and lose much of their valuable fun, pleasure and enjoyment peculiar to childhood.
These days leisure has grown into a big business and industry. People have invested huge sums of money in developing luxury hotels, motels, holiday homes, video games resorts, golf-courses, places of water sports, fun and health clubs. There are package tours, chartered flights and other attractions to make your spare time really interesting enjoyable, exciting and memorable. One need not be always wealthy to enjoy one's leisure time. What one actually needs is some imagination, planning and thinking.

Leisure is enjoyable in relation to one's work. It is after day's hard work that one enjoys one's leisure the most. In the absence of work no leisure can be truly conceived. It is a kind of diversion which presupposes work and labor. Rest is most sweet only after exhaustion. Our life is now far more free and leisurely than it was for our forefathers. Affluence, ease, automation and conquest of time and space have brought more hours of leisure. But this abundance of leisure and spare time may turn into a curse if not used properly and wisely in some pleasant, enjoyable and healthy hobby. Leisure provides us with a rare opportunity to satisfy our inner spiritual and aesthetic demands. But problem is how many of us are really well equipped to meet these demands?

Essay on Qualities of a Successful Salesman

College Essay Topics  Good qualities of a salesperson   What makes a successful salesperson  Top qualities for a salesperson

Salesmanship or qualities of a salesperson

The purpose of all business is to sell and earn profits. They sell a product, service or an idea. To increase sales and boost profits advertisements and sales-persons are there. They are the two aspects of the same coin. A salesman does the same job in person which an advertisement does impersonally. Both are indispensable for success in business and millions and millions of rupees are spent on these heads. Good sales-persons are now as essential as a meaningful and result-oriented advertisement. No businessman, worth his name, can think of doing without them.
A sales-person is like an ambassador and representative of a business and much depends on his or her success. A salesman may remain at the shop or showroom, pay visit to houses or go on a tour from town to town and village to village. However, his purpose and function remain the same. He has to advertise, highlight the qualities of a product and sell the goods of his company. He has to persuade the people to buy his goods. he has to exercise a kind of magic to hypnotize the people to buy. He describes his products or services in such a way that it appeals the buying instinct of the people he comes in contact during his rounds.
A good salesman's purpose is to locate the potential buyers and urge them to buy. The salesmen visit the houses, meet the people, have an encounter with them and try to make them feel the need to buy what they are offering them to sell. He or she is made to feel by them that there is an occasion to grab the opportunity which if once missed would be missed for ever. A sales man has to be persuasive, polite and smart to arouse the interest of the buyers in his products. He has to be a kind of psychologist to create goodwill about his company and its products.
A salesman also helps the buyers to make a choice between many different products. In these days of mass production of consumer goods by many reputed companies, the customer feels confused. He or she may not be able to make a quick and right decision. He suffers from a kind of indecision and hesitation and sometimes may procrastinate the buying. A good salesman has to take full advantage of the situation. He explains, underlines the various qualities of the products he is selling he emphasizes the comparative advantages of buying them then and there or in near future. He believes in beating the iron when it is really hot. He assures the buyer of getting full return for his money. He assures of a very good after-sales service if the product is durable consumer item. But he will not allow the opportunity to slip. He has to use many weapons of strategy to push up the sales and thereby boost the profits of the company. he may use the offer of a discount, a gift a gift hamper, buy now and pay later etc as his weapons.
In order to motivate the people to buy your goods you have to be very professional and use all the tricks found in the book. Salesmanship is both an art and technique. it requires a specialization and aptitude. It should be taught as a subject in schools and colleges. Everybody cannot be a good and successful sales person. it is through the art of salesmanship that even a new product can be a roaring success within no time. Salesman help in building a brand image, reputation and goodwill of a business as nothing else can do. Many companies and their products are today household names because of their very efficient advertisements and salesmanship strategies.
A good and successful salesman is supposed to have many qualities of head and heart. He should be very smart, attractive, alert, hardworking and healthy. He should have a liking for travel, tours, visits and outdoor activates. He should be polite, courteous, persuasive, friendly and sympathetic so that the customer feels at ease while at the shop or the showroom. He should be a good conversationalist and able to reason out things satisfactorily. Pleasing manners are always an asst for a salesman.
Patience and perseverance are other qualities which a good salesman should have in abundance. Patience pays handsomely and perseverance has its own need in salesmanship. A salesman serves the customers with smile and never feels irritated even if a customer does not buy anything at all after being shown many items. A seasoned salesman is a bit of psychologist and tries to exploit the customer's psychology in making him purchase the item. He never admits defeat nor says die. If a customer does not buy now, the salesman feels he would surely the next time. He tries to win over the customers for future purchases. His endeavor is always to satisfy the customers ad create goodwill which pays good dividends in the long run.

A salesman has to be always active and on his toes. Good salesmen and women are great assets to a business. They are professionals and specialized persons in the field of salesmanship. They are paid very handsomely for their labors and are in great demand.
