A dialogue between two friends with curiosity
Nadia: It must be interesting living in
Lahore, Sadaf dear.
Sadaf: Oh, yes. It is.
Nadia: I suppose you're still working as
secretary to that M.P. you worked for before, what's his name?
Sadaf: No. I'm not actually.
Nadia: Oh yes, I remember, you wanted to
change, didn't you?
Sadaf: Well, not exactly.....
Nadia: Anyway, it's always interesting
changing jobs from time to time. After a bit, the same kind of work can get on
one's nerves can't it?
Sadaf: Yes. That's true.
Nadia: Oh. You didn't have a row did you?
Sadaf: Not really. He wasn't very well.
Kidney trouble.
Nadia: Oh dear.....you have got a job,
haven't you.
Sadaf: Oh yes.
Nadia: A good one?
Sadaf: Yes, it's quite fun. It takes a lot of
time.
Nadia: Well, it's always difficult when
you're newly married and both of you are working.
Sadaf: You're telling me, Mum.
Nadia: I hope Sajid doesn't worry too much
with him studying and you earning the money. Sometimes that's bad for a man. But
of course, can see that doesn't apply to you two. You're the sort of couple who
would find a balance.
Sadaf: Well, I hope so.
Nadia: And it is wonderful being just married
isn't it?
Sadaf: Yes... Yes, it's wonderful.
Nadia: And at least you've got your own home.
It must be awful having to live within-laws at the beginning.
Sadaf: Well, we're very lucky....
Nadia: Although really a home's not a home
without children.
Sadaf: No, perhaps not.
Nadia: You know dear, it makes me so happy
that you've settled down so well and and that you're both enjoying yourselves so
much, and well, that you've got a nice job and a cosy flat. Of course, if two
people love each other... (door opens) oh, hello Khalid.
Khalid: Hello. Poor Sadaf! Is Nadia giving
you an inquisition?
Nadia: Of course I'm not! Sadaf was telling
me all about their life in Lahore, weren't you dear?
