Essay on Knowledge is Power

College Essay Topics ;  Knowledge is Power Speech

Knowledge is Power

The English philosopher-essayist Francis Bacon, rightly said, ''knowledge itself is power''. Knowledge and power go together. You cannot think of power without knowledge. He who increases knowledge increases power. It is the only instrument of production which is not subject to diminishing returns. On the other hand ignorance is curse and darkness. It brings superstitions, defeat, decadence, failures and frustration in its wake. Knowledge is enlightenment and light. It is freedom, liberation and realization. Only a knowledgeable person can think big and high. He can achieve anything. For him nothing is impossible, no obstacle is great or insurmountable.
He can be brave, bold dashing and commanding. All great, successful arid eminent persons in the history of the world have been very powerful. They have been so because they possessed the inexhaustible treasure of knowledge. There is no power so strong as knowledge and a person armed with knowledge and power cannot be stopped from achieving success and crowning glory in life. For him even the sky is not the limit. Knowledge lends self confidence, perseverance, hope, courage to face challenges, steadfastness and dedication to a purpose. All mighty and powerful men and women have made knowledge to be their province. God is God only because He is all knowledge, omniscient and omnipotent. There is no limit to his knowledge and power. Knowledge reigns supreme and unchallenged.
It is knowledge which lends power to man to control and rule over forces of nature. Today the countries have come much closer to one another and the world has become a global village because of power of knowledge. Time and space have shrunk and distances have been conquered because of the long and rapid strides of knowledge. Science, technology, success, advancement etc. are the other names and terms of knowledge. In the pre-historic past man was ignorant, weak, helpless and puny. He lived in caves and jungles and suffered from many fatal diseases. He was never sure of food, security, shelter and safety because he had no knowledge.
He was at the mercy of the forces of nature and wild animals. Then he stood defenseless, naked, unarmed and vulnerable in a very hostile world because of lack of knowledge. He lived by hunting and wore skins and barks to protect himself from cold and heat. Gradually he exercised his brains, acquired knowledge and today he is the most powerful creature. He is the master of all that he surveys. The moon is not beyond his reach nor the knowledge of the sun, the planets, stars and galaxies. He is ready to set his foot on the Mars.
The history of human progress, civilization and evolution has been actually the history of advancement of knowledge. ever since the dawn of civilization and history, it is the brain which has been more powerful than anything else. Knowledge rules supreme. The pen has been mightier than the sword. Even the most mighty kings and emperors were guided, helped and advised by men of learning and wisdom. Behind the powers of kings, warriors and princes was the brain of the learned men and women. History is the witness of the success, survival and victory of the races who were really intellectual and therefore, powerful.
Mao-Tse-Tung was wrong when he said that power grows on the barrel of a gun. He forgot the age old and time tested saying that those who live by the sword will perish by the sword. A sword can never be more mighty than a pen. Pen represents learning, wisdom, knowledge, secrets of success and the sword mere physical and material power. It is the brain or mind which is more important than matter. Mind has always ruled over matter and will continue to do so for ever. The achievements of mind have always been marvelous They have been eternal, without limits of time and space. Today even after the lapse of many centuries the Vedas occupy a place of very high regard in the hearts of humanity across this wide world only because of their wisdom, intellectual and spiritual wealth. Shakespeare, Tagore, Goethe, Tolstoy etc. are cherished and known all over the world only because of their great literary creations, the real treasure house of human knowledge, sentiments, emotions, passions etc. They constitute the crown of humanity and not Alexander and Napoleon.

Behind all genuine and lasting power is knowledge. Genuine power is that which springs from knowledge and wisdom and the rest is brute force, fragile, momentary and like a bubble in the water of eternity. Knowledge is indeed power, it reigns supreme.

Essay on Importance of History

Why Should History Be Taught and Studied?

History is an important subject and discipline of study. It teaches us so many things and enlightens us. It makes us wiser nobler, braver and sagacious. It helps us to see our roots in the past and prepare for the future. And the peoples who refuse to learn from the past are destined to suffer and lose. The study of history teaches us how to avoid mistakes and errors and exploit our strengths. It also helps us in becoming more adaptable, dynamic, practical and result oriented in the light of past events, happenings and historical developments. It is really thrilling to know with the help of history how our forefathers lived and worked and how much we have progressed since their time.
All our space researches and travels are a great attempt to rediscover ourselves, our creation and the history of the universe. Man likes and loves to unravel the mysteries of life and nature. And this is all history in a comprehensive and liberal sense. It is foolish to confine history to the recorded facts, figures and statements. They are important and interesting but to know about the unknown past is more significant and interesting.
History is a serious subject and should be taught and learnt with all the seriousness it deserves. The American founder of Ford Motor company made a sweeping statement when he said, ''History is more or less bunk, ''His statement was not based on facts. It was wrong and erroneous. History is neither a sting of tales and fables nor a collection of dry and useless facts and figures. The prejudice against history is because of our failure to understand the subject in its proper perspective. It is not a mere collection of the records of past events and happenings. It is not a mere record of wars, battles and treaties of the past. It is much more than that. Carlyle called history as the biography of the great men. But he has not told the whole truth about history. It is biography of great men but besides this, it is also the history of the triumphs,  travails and progress of human civilization. Great men are there because there are common men and public. History is also the record of the march of human culture, religion, arts, literature and ethos. We should not view history through the narrow spectacles of our likes and dislikes.

History should be studied because it is a fascinating subject. It is full of marvelous facts, figures, events, doings and happenings and facts are stranger than fiction. Study of history is not only profitable but also very interesting. It is as interesting as a thrilling novel, fiction or a story. Many great works of literature are based on history. Shakespeare has created many historical plays. there are many great historical novels, fictions and stories in the world literature. Study of history strengthens the bonds of nationalism unity and integrity. It teaches us how o be proud of past common cultural heritage and achievements. It broadens the horizon of our understanding and teaches us how to appreciate the cultures and life styles of other countries. It also very well underlines the fact that life is basically one and the same everywhere. It is through the study of history that better understanding and relations among nations can be achieved and maintained.

Essay on Importance of Newspapers

 Importance of Newspapers

Newspaper are a great power in themselves. They are a great power to be reckoned with so much so that even very mighty and influential persons in politics, industries or social life cannot dare to face their hostility. Their freedom and power is of vital significance in democratic countries. They work as the watchdogs of democracy, human rights and individual freedom. They fill the gap between the public and the government and administration by working as a bridge and meaningful means of dialogue. They are not only one of the mass media but much more. They keep the public informed about the policies programmers and planning of the government and record the people's reactions, views, opinions etc. They help in making public opinion as nothing else can do. Personal freedom is the essence of democracy and it reflected in the freedom and influence of the press and the newspapers.
Newspapers should have full freedom to criticize, condemn, warn, encourage and appreciate the workings of the government based on their merit. It is the vigilant and investigative journalism and brave, fearless and daring newspapers which have exposed many scandals, scams, misdeeds and corruption of the governments throughout the globe. As such newspapers carry a great responsibility and accountability. But there is no room for yellow journalism, biased reporting, sensationalism, favoritism or unethical practices. They have to be impartial, objective, fair, fearless, investigative and responsive to public obligations. They should never try to thrive on sensational, distorted and motivated news, views, interviews, editorials, etc. They should never misuse their rights, privileges and powers. It is said that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. The press should always keep this universal truth in mind and never indulge in character assassination, favoritism, untruths, half truths and exaggerated reporting.
Newspapers can be an instrument of great public good or evil. Press can help in promoting communal harmony, national unity, integrity, brotherhood, removal of superstitions and other social evils like dowry, castes, gender-bias etc. On the other hand if abused and misused they can be an instrument of humors, communal hatred, bloodshed, disintegration,  riots, conflicts and schism. The journalism in Pakistan has come of age and so the newspapers have been discharging their duties and responsibilities fairly well and appreciably.
We cannot think of life without newspapers. They have become almost as essential as our daily morning tea or breakfast. If there is a strike of newspapers for some reason even for a day, the readers miss them very much. They feel a sort of void in their daily life and the uneasiness can be seen writ large on their faces. They are the cheapest and a very rich source of latest news, information, views, comments, commodity quotes, bullion rates, stock market positions, government policies and programmers and much more. They bring the whole world at the readers door steps and keep their knowledge updated and upgraded. They are virtually an encyclopedia of day to day knowledge. They have leading articles, editorials, interviews, comments and reviews which are a good source pf public enlightenment. The ads about vacancies, cultural activities, sales, marriages, hobbies, lost and found articles etc are of great importance to the general public. Newspapers bring people closer and nearer to one another and serve a great social, cultural and national purpose. The news about games and sports, crimes, accidents, local issues, books, cinema, etc is also of much value and significance. They have become so important that even illiterate people want them to be read to them. Many people have become literate only because they themselves wanted to read the newspapers at their will independently.
In Pakistan today there are daily newspapers in English, Urdu and all others regional languages. Besides daily there are weeklies, fortnight lies and monthlies. The number of the Urdu newspapers is the highest followed by English. The expansion in circulation, number of publications and readership reflect their great popularity. With further expansion of education and literacy in the coming years, their would be more and more appreciable increase in terms of their circulation, readership, and publication. The liberalization of economy, globalization of industries popularity of stock markets etc augurs well for the newspapers. In spite of electronic media like television, the hold of newspapers on the public will remain firm and fast.

Essay on My Hobby

College Essay Topics ;  Short Essay on My Hobby ;  Essay on Gardening as a Hobby

My Hobby

A hobby is an activity or work done in spare time. It is a leisure time pursuit undertaken for pleasure and enjoyment and not for earning money. Thus, hobby is totally different from profession. What is my hobby may be another man's profession or means of livelihood. Hobby is a meaningful and pleasant use of leisure time. There is no profit motive behind a hobby.
Hobby makes life pleasant and interesting. After day's hand work it is very pleasing and refreshing to pursue a hobby. It refreshes and energizes for further work. There is nothing like a hobby as a means of relaxation, enjoyment and refreshment. Everybody should have a hobby to break the monotony and boredom of daily routine work.
There may be as many hobbies as there are people. They are countless and new ones are being added to their numbers. Some hobbies may be really strange and startling while others may be conventional and well known. A hobby may also be very expensive. Gardening is my hobby. I began to take interest from my very young age in gardening. In those days my father was a high official in a ministry and we lived in a spacious house with lawns and a big garden. There were servants and a gardener. My hobby goes to those early days of my childhood about 12-13 years back. Now we live in our own house which has a small garden.
My parents, friends and neighbors say that I have green fingers. I love plants, flowers, trees etc. from the core of my heart. I treat them as my friends, relations and as my second self. Actually I can never think of my life without them. They lend color to my life and dreams. I spend my spare time in attending them with great care, attention and love. I feel great pride about my garden. The plants, flowers and the healthy environment created by them give me much pleasure, peace of mind, inspiration and relaxation. I feel much nearer to God and Mother Nature when I am in my garden.
There are a number of flower plants and a couple of trees in my garden. Some of the plants are in the pots. Their fragrance, beauty and colors are a joy for ever. They fill my soul with their innocent majesty and fragrance. My parents also feel proud of me and spend much of their leisure hours in the garden. My mother uses the flowers from the garden in decorating house. These fresh, fragrant, soft and beautiful flowers from our own garden make our home more beautiful. She is always happy, blissful and kind which in turn affects all of us and the environment in a way so beneficial, healthy and enjoyable. There are a few vegetable bed as well and part of our vegetable needs is met by these.
I have all the necessary tools and implements required in gardening. I also have a good collection of books on the subject. I keep myself well informed and update on the subject by reading books and magazines related with the art of gardening.

My hobby gives me a lot of satisfaction and pleasure. After my studies and homework, I retire to my garden and work there or just sit and enjoy the healthy environs. Had I not cultivated this hobby, I must have missed a source of much joy, fun, inspiration and peace of mind. Many types of birds and butterflies visit the garden and add more to its beauty and fascination. Some song birds are regular visitors. A few of them also make their nests during breeding time there on the tree.

Essay on Life and Environment

Life and Environment

There is much talk about environment protection and its conservation. It is a current topic of discussions, conferences, articles in newspapers and magazines etc. Every year 15th June is observed as the World Environment Day. Similarly 22nd April is celebrated as the Earth Day. It is a very healthy trend as it shows increasing awareness and concern about the environment and its problems among the people. But what actually the world ''environment'' means? What really constitutes our environment? It is a basic question about which people are often vague and confused. Literally, ''Environment'' means surroundings. All that is there around us is ''environment''. It includes all the conditions, situation, influences, circumstances etc. that affect living beings. Thus it is a very comprehensive term and includes land, water, air, temperature, light etc. It means all the conditions that helped in the origin, growth and development of life and now sustains it. It is a comprehensive system that supports life. Life and environment are the two aspects of the same coin. There can not be life without this environment. Life presupposes environment.
There is no life on the moon, the Jupiter, the Mars, the Saturn  and other planets in our solar system only because there is no environment. they are voids and deserts without life supporting elements which constitute environment. Our earth is the only known living planet. the earth is unique in this sense that there is environment and life on this planet. it is because there are water air, earth, climate, weather, geography, geology and and all other natural resources that God and Nature has bestowed upon it. These various elements are there on the earth in a certain desired proportion. this balance has helped in the origin of life and its sustenance. In the absence of these elements in a given proportion, our earth would have been another dead and sterile planet like Mars and mercury. But now this life sustaining environment is in danger because of rapidly increasing pollution. The pollution disturbs this desired balance in various natural elements like water, air, earth etc. and consequently, life is endangered. Many species of birds, plants, insects etc are already lost because of this dangerous trend. It has also caused many serious problems to human beings as well. the careless and excessive use of natural resources, unwise and indiscriminate industrialization and rapidly increasing human population have made the problem more complex.
It is the earth's peculiar atmosphere or biosphere that protects and sustains life. Atmosphere means all the air surrounding the earth which consists of mainly of nitrogen and life giving oxygen. Other gases found in the atmosphere are argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, neon, helium, krypton etc. Water vapor is also there in the atmosphere. Without the presence of water vapor, there would be no weather on the earth. This atmosphere protects the earth like a shield or a skin cover. This cover of the earth extends up to about 200 km from its surface. It is this shield of atmosphere that moderates and regulates temperature and prevents excess of heating. It also protects life on the earth from the sun's dangerous ultraviolet rays. This is done mainly by a layer of ozone that lies between attitudes of 12 and 20 km above its surface. But the depletion in the ozone layer in recent years because of pollution has become a major concern.
The earth's environment has been adversely affected by many of the nasty human activates. One of these is the indiscriminate use of fossil fuels like coal, petrol, diesel, kerosene, natural gas etc. It has caused global warming. As a result temperatures are rising and there are floods, droughts, violent storms and destructions. As temperatures rise, the oceans become more warm and release greater energy in the atmosphere resulting in very destructive storms, cyclones, typhoons, hurricanes etc. The green houses gases generated by various undesirable human activates change the weather patterns and there are often huge forest flag rations as well as it happened recently in Australia, Indonesia and other neighboring island nations.
Forests and green cover is part and parcel of our environment. But now the forests are vanishing rapidly. Once the earth was covered by forests over 40 per cent of its area. But it has now been reduced to 27 per cent. The loss of forests and green cover, because of human greed and exploitation of natural resources, is a great human tragedy. Forests support a big diversity of life. They protect soil from erosion, Landslides etc. and also stop desertification. Destruction of forests causes floods, droughts and extinction of many species of animal and bird life.

The protection and conservation of environment and biosphere is of vital importance. They must be preserved at all cost. Pollution of the environment is the biggest problem being faced by the humanity. It is high time that man learns more about how to live in harmony with nature and less about how to conquer nature. Man's dependence on nature cannot be over emphasized. Man is an integral part of nature and should never think of disturbing the balance of nature. It is this balance in nature and environment which supports and sustains life. The environment protects life and supplies it with essential items like air, water, food, heat and home. The biosphere or ecosystem is an equilibrium of various environmental elements and it should be maintained. This delicate and fragile ecosystem should not be disturbed at all. It is essential for our survival and growth that we adjust ourselves to the eternal laws of nature and live in accord and harmony with nature.

Essay on Tree Plantation and Conservation

Tree Plantation and Conservation

Importance of trees, forests and the green cover of the earth is well known. Trees are our best and the most valuable friends. In Pakistan traditions and culture many types of trees are held sacred and worshiped only because of this reason. Trees and forests play a very vital role in the growth and development of human society. They are also important  for beasts, birds and other forms of life. Without trees life is not possible. God first created trees and vegetation and then men and animals because the former sustain life.

Trees give us fruits, flowers, medicines, fuel, timber, shelter and many other things. They not only beautiful environment but also prevent floods, droughts, famines, soil-erosion, land-slides, desertification etc. They work as a greet force and instrument in maintaining ecological balance in the nature. They prevent pollution and keep the atmosphere fresh, lively and vibrating. They are part and parcel of our environment.
But unfortunately, the forest cover of the earth is shrinking rapidly. There has been indiscriminate destruction of trees and forests on a large scale. Depletion of forest wealth has caused many serious problems. These include floods, droughts, famines, erratic rainfalls, soil erosion, desertification and landslides. Because lack of trees and forests, the water cannot be absorbed in the earth and so there are floods and soil erosion. Forests are a very valuable and renewable resources of nature and must be protected and preserved at all costs. More and more trees should be planted and then seen to be matured. Social forestry should be popularized. Feeling of trees should be strictly prohibited and the offenders properly punished. More and more people, non-government agencies, social groups, etc. should be involved in tree plantation. Students in schools and colleges should be inspired and motivated to plant and protect trees. It should be made obligatory that at least one tree is planted by each and every person in the country.
Because of the destruction of forests, the wild animals come out at night to the villages and towns in search of prey. They then attack and kill human beings and domestic animals. Thus, many wolves, hyenas, tigers, leopards, etc. become man eaters. The mindless destruction of forests also affects rain patterns, water management and climate. There is an urgent need to spread the awareness about trees. Forests and the green cover of the earth. Social forestry can be one of the school subjects. Encroachment on forests should also be checked. Degraded forests should be regenerated on war footing and forest conservation laws should be more stringent. They should be enforced honestly. It takes 20 to 25 years for a tree to grow to its full size but it can be destroyed within no time with a few strokes of an axe. Every part of a tree roots, leaves, fruits, flowers, wood, bark is valuable. They serve several purposes, when trees fall and die their natural death, even then they continue to serve us as our best friends.
The influence and impact of trees on all living beings including man is very soothing and pleasant. They keep us happy, healthy and cheerful. They provide us with life giving oxygen and work as valuable barrier to noise pollution.
We should protect and conserve the trees, the most beautiful gift of God and nature Plantation and protection of trees is a great creative activity. It is also participation in divinity. There cannot be a greater sin than feeling a tree. It is nothing short of a murder.

A Picnic

Man wants change, novelty and variety. He feels bored with routine, monotonous and humdrum life. Variety and change add sugar and spice to life. Man wants rest, relaxation ,entertainment and holidaying after hard work and busy life. Life would be a burden if there were no refreshing moments away from the daily routine. Picnics and outings provide us with much needed rest, refreshment and relaxation. They lend charm and novelty to otherwise dull and monotonous life. A picnic with friends or members of the family is a fine opportunity to escape from routine and dullness. Picnics from an integral part of student life. Picnic are arranged by the schools to provide the students with much needed rest, relaxation and entertainment. After such an enjoyment, the students feel quite refreshed, energetic and can devote themselves to their studies with renewed energy, interest, devotion and vigor.
Our school often takes us on picnics and outings. There are many picnic spots in the around Lahore which include jinnah park , Allama Iqbal,Mazar, Minar-e-pakistan, Hiran Minar, Jahangir Tomb, Race Course park, etc.
Three luxury buses were hired for all the three sections of our class X. We were charged Rs. 100 each and the rest of the expenses were met from the school fund. It was our last picnic of the school as we were the students of class X. And it was final class in the school. We gathered in the school premises in morning at 8 o'clock. We had our own lunch packets. The buses were already there. Many students had come with walk men, transistor radios, cameras, tape recorders, small drums etc. Shahid, my friend, had brought his violin.
By 8.30 we started for the picnic spot and by 9.45 we were there. It was a very enjoyable short journey. As the buses moved, the students began to sing, chat and play on their instruments. They clapped to the tune of that music. It was early winter and the weather was very fine and enjoyable. The wayside scenes were a feast to our eyes. The cool breeze was blowing and birds here and there chirping in the roadside trees and on telephone lines. I had taken a thermos flask full of hot coffee some of which I enjoyed during the journey with my friend Shahid. Students enjoyed eating chocolates, toffees and snacks in he buses. What a happy lot we all were! It was really a unique experience of collective enjoyment and sharing with one another.
We spent the day at Jallo Park in sheer delight watching animals, birds, boating and swimming. Some of the students had come with kites and they enjoyed kite flying for a while. The bright and colorful kites in the clear blue sky presented a beautiful sight. Every now and then the cameras clicked and a number of films were exposed. The weather was perfect and try pleasant. We took a short walk along the lake after tea and refreshments.
There was a large flock of rosy pelicans in the lake besides many other feathery friends like mallard, pochard, teal, geese, cranes etc. These birds were identified and explained to us by a guide provided by the authorities there. He was a jolly fellow and told many anecdotes and jokes to our great delight. It was a big lake and really a paradise for bird watchers and lovers of nature. Many of the birds had arrived there from as far a place as Siberia. Birds of many sizes, shapes and colors were gliding, breaking, floating, diving and flying on the vast expanse of clear blue water. It was an unforgettable and fascinating experience. After a hearty lunch and dessert of fruits and sweets we had some rest.
Again there was a new session of sensational enjoyment. Students cracked jokes with one another some danced, others listened to music and a pair busied itself in playing a game of chess. Still some others were busy taking photographs. Amidst flashes of cameras, sweet music, dancing, clapping, happy shouting and eating, it was an experience full of thrill, gay abandon, sheer joy and delight never experienced before.
In the evening we were served tea, coffee and cold drinks, with hot snacks, pakoras etc. by the contractor of the restaurant there. Time had wings and we did not know how the hours had slipped by till the moment of our departure had come. Ultimately, we packed and boarded the three buses.

It was really a memorable picnic and its memories are still fresh. When I see the photographs of the picnic in my personal album, I am once again transported to the lake. We enjoyed every minute of it and feel it was one of the best picnic we ever had collectively as students.

My Ambition in Life Essay

College Essay Topics  My ambition in life english essay  Essay on my ambition in life  Essay on my ambition in life to become a teacher

Everybody may have an ambition. An ambition gives meaning and purpose to life. What is life without ambition? A life without ambition is like a rudderless ship. An ambition sets your goal and aim and object. When the aim is clear, one can strive wholeheartedly to achieve it. Man is an ambitious animal. His ambition distinguishes him from other animals, among other things. Man sees dreams and then wants to realize them. Man can also be called a dreaming being. Life is nothing without dreams and ambition. They lend color, inspiration and power to our life and activity and are the basis of our cultural, social and scientific developments.
Different people have different ambitions. Some want to become political leaders, others engineers, doctors, businessmen, managers or millionaires. There are others who want to become writers, musicians, painters, dancers, journalists or photographers. It is good to have ambition and see dreams but they should be realistic and achievable. Making castles in the air is foolish. Ambition beyond one's reach leads to frustration and regrets. One should be reasonable in one's ambition as far as possible. People with exceptional qualities, will power and determination can dream of even achieving the moon. Man's capacity to achieve anything is wonderful. For man even the sky is not the limit, but it is in exceptional cases.
I belong to a middle class family and know my limits. I know my aptitude and capacities. I don't want to become a general in armed forces, a millionaire or business tycoon. My ambition is very modest, practicable achievable ad useful. I want to become a successful teacher in a school. I have reading habits and have a small library of my own. The books give me a good company and increase my knowledge and skills of language and communication. These will stand me in a good stead in future when I become a teacher. I also like children and spend some time in playing and teaching them when I am free from homework and studies. Teaching is in my blood. My late father was a very successful and popular teacher. He was selfless, dedicated and learned teacher always respected by his students, their parents and his colleagues. I want to follow in his footsteps and emulate him.
After graduation, I shall complete my B.Ed course and become a teacher. Good teachers are in great demand and not easy to come by. Teaching is a specialized job and everybody cannot be a good and successful teacher in spite of required paper qualifications. Teaching requires that the man or woman on the post believes in high thinking and simple living, that he or she is a committed person to the cause of students and education. A greedy, overambitious, overbearing and lacking good moral character should never think of becoming a teacher. Teachers are really nation builders and teaching needs a lot of patience, perseverance, training, sense of dedication, service and love for youngsters. A teacher has to be tolerant, receptive, forgiving, studious and book loving. I think I have these qualities in good measure. I have thought over the matter long and deep and then decided to become a teacher, a true and genuine teacher.
The noble ideas, ideals and life of our teachers are before me. They inspire me and fill me with hope, enthusiasm and courage. I am fully aware of the difficult, hard and responsible life of a school teachers and fully prepared for it. I know how hard a teacher has to work without any good salary or financial benefits. But I shall keep my expenses within reasonable limits and never want to become wealthy. My learning, wisdom and education will be my real wealth which would increase manifold with its distribution to the students. It would really give me a great satisfaction to see my students grow tall in stature and wisdom. It is said that if you want fruits and cool shade, grow trees. If you want humanity and wisdom, grow human beings. I shall follow the second principle. I shall help the young students to learn and imbibe high morals, ideals and principles. I shall be strong both in body and mind, above all in character.

Soon the compulsory universal ad free primary education will be there. It would require a great number of good and dedicated teachers. I shall in my own humble way, try to fill this gap. There is scarcity of teachers. Toppers, the cream of the students don't like the profession because it is very low paid. There are not many avenues for advancement and promotions. Even those who come in this noble profession use it as a stepping stone to some other more profitable and lucrative job and leave it as early as possible. They are ever in search of greener pastures. Teaching has become synonymous with easy going, inefficiency, mediocrity etc and it pains me a lot. I want that Pakistani teachers once again gain their lofty position in the society by their hard work, honesty, sincerity, wisdom, learning and sacrifices. Pakistan needs them urgently. People with aptitude, commitment and proper qualifications should respond to this national call without thinking of personal gains and benefits. Only such teachers can bring about a silent revolution of regeneration and renaissance. They can help in eradicating illiteracy superstitions and ignorance. They can become the harbingers of light, knowledge and happiness.

Advertisement analysis essay

This is an age of advertisement, nay aggressive advertisement. There is virtually an advertisement invasion. It is all over the country influencing our ideas, life styles and decisions. There are more advertisements in the newspapers than the news and articles. On the small screen of of television the programmers are heavily punctuated with advertisements. They are there on the silver screen of the cinema in large numbers. They can be seen on the walls, buildings, scaffolds, electric and telephone poles, bills, letter boxes, railway platforms, trains, reservation forms, trucks, buses, trolleys, airports and even in such places as cremation and burial grounds. Big-big, colorful and attractive advertisement balloons rise and float high in the sky. There are costly but very attractive laser advertisements. It has become a very big industry and there are huge profits and volumes. Corporate groups, business houses, film makers, shopkeepers, traders, manufactures, stockbrokers, banks etc. spend corers and corers on advertising. A great part of the annual budget of these people is spent on it.
Advertisements serve a great purpose. They promote sales, increase business and profits as nothing else can do. They catch the eyes, hearts and minds of the viewers and turn them into instant buyers. They appeal to their imagination, curiosity and purchasing urges. People are tempted to buy what they see advertised. Then there is pressure from ladies and children in the family. These pressures turn hesitation into immediate purchasing decisions even when the things are actually not needed. People buy on installments, on credit or by borrowing money, such is the power of attractive advertisements. During festivals and social occasions their psychological appeal is at its best. They create a mood to buy and spend money. Then there are gift coupons, hampers, discounts, annual sales etc. Which the people find very hard to resist. Advertisements have ushered in a wave of consumerism in white, brown and other goods besides clothes and commodities.
Then there are big exhibitions in five star hotels, halls and sprawling grounds. Customers throng the exhibitions and enjoy themselves with their members of the family. When an environment of picnic prevails there, one can be easily on a spending spree. There is home delivery, buy now pay later offers. Such an onslaught can hardly be withstood. Advertisements also offer better products at reasonable rates. There is wider choice and vast range of things to choose from. People want value for their money and advertisements give them this opportunity. There is cheating as well but it is soon exposed and cannot be repeated. In this age of global economy, international integration and fierce competition only the fittest can survive. Mere advertisement does not serve the purpose. It should be matched with quality product, consumer satisfaction, good after sales service and a lot of good will.
An advertisement to be successful, needs to be creative, novel, appealing and result oriented. Advertisements are prepared by experts by spending lakes of rupees and keeping the target buyers in mind. Advertisements have now become a very specialized field of activity. They help in introducing new products, increasing the sales of established products and changing possible customers into instant buyers because they are based on buying psychology and the principles of effectiveness. Without constant advertisement even a very strong and good product would become unshakable. Publicity aims at promoting sales by underlining certain unique qualities of a product and commodity. ''Out of sight out of mind'' is a very old and time tasted saying. It applies so well in the world of business, trade and commerce that nobody can ignore it. The more people see and listen about a product, the more they are sure to buy it.
Advertisements create brand image and once a brand is established a commodity becomes a household world. Established brands have very strong appeal. And once one starts liking a particular brand he or she sticks to it life long. It becomes a kind of addiction and hypnotism. Advertisements have revolutionized the business world.

But sometimes advertisements are really very dangerous and cause a lot of harm particularly to children and youngsters. They try to imitate dangerous advertisements seen on television, silver screen or in a magazine. Such visual and advertisements should be banned and there should be heavy penalty on those advertisements which cause loss of life or injury among children. Young children try to imitate such dangerous commercial visuals and end in tragedy.
